Who We Are

The Henry/Martinsville Health Department participates in the Every Woman's Life (EWL) program, a public health program that helps uninsured, low-income women gain access to free breast cancer screening services.  Screening and early detection reduce death rates and improve treatment options.  The program provides screenings for breast and cervical cancer, which include mammograms, breast exams, and cervical cancer tests such as Pap and HPV.  Women must meet enrollment guidelines as enrollment is limited.  This program is for women ages 40-64, or ages 18-39 with symptoms or risk factors.

Mammography is an important preventive health procedure for women.  For early detection of breast cancer, the best option is regular screening mammograms for women over the age of 40. For detailed information about eligibility guidelines for the EWL program, click here or call Every Woman's Life toll-free referral line at 1-866-EWL-4YOU (1-866-395-4968).
