Who We Are

Behavioral Health Services clinical staff work with survivors of trauma. Staff also provide Critical Incident Stress Management debriefing for organizational and community traumatic events.

Trauma may arise from any life event that is threatening to your well being such as car accidents, family or community violence, medical procedures, sexual assault or natural disasters. Many people who have experienced a traumatic event may not necessarily need therapy, but an opportunity to learn positive coping methods.

The Child Abuse Trauma Treatment (CATT) program is funded by the Virginia Department of Social Services Victims of Crime Child Abuse and Neglect grant. The funding provides free therapy to children who have been abused or adults who were sexually abused as a child.

The Thrive Program is funded by the Federal Victims of Crime funds.  This funding provides free counseling to youth between the ages of 12 and 25 who have been a victim of a crime.

Clinicians are specially trained in trauma therapy including:

  • Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy,
  • Cognitive Processing Therapy,
  • Eye Movement Integration Therapy,
  • Trauma Family Therapy,
  • Attachment-Regulation-Competency (ARC) Trauma Therapy.
