Individual and Family Therapy, Adolescents

Henrico Area Mental Health and Developmental Services (HAMHDS) provides licensed therapists who meet with the adolescents and their parents or guardians and other family members if indicated. Together, the therapist and youth develop a service plan with strategies for strengthening the areas that are going well and better manage some of the emotional and behavioral difficulties that may exist. Staff are trained to address multiple and complex issues facing adolescents. Therapy addresses behavioral health issues such as depression, anxiety, trauma, mood and emotional dysregulation.. Youth who need evaluation for psychiatric medication and follow-up medication management are referred to our Board Certified Child and Adolescent staff psychiatrist or to a qualified child psychiatrist in the community.
