Who We Are
The Sentara RMH Psychiatric Emergency Team (PET) provides crisis intervention, assessment, information and referral assistance anytime, day or night through the Sentara RMH Emergency Department. The staff of licensed clinical social workers, licensed professional counselors and mental health counselors provides on-site support to the Sentara RMH Emergency Department to assist in evaluating patients who present with mental health concerns. These also include alcohol and substance abuse problems.
In the Sentara RMH Emergency Department, the clinician will meet with you to assess the severity of the crisis and to determine the appropriate level of care. Once the assessment is done, a plan will be made to help an individual receive the right level of care for their specific needs.

- Confidential, comprehensive assessments for psychiatric and chemical dependency problems in children, adolescents, adults and older adults;
- Referral services to outpatient treatment, or to inpatient care based on individual needs;
