Who We Are
Virginia Beach Department of Human Services offers a placement program for individuals who can no longer be cared for in the community. Placement in a home for adults or a nursing home may be considered.
Anyone needing 24-hour supervision but not 24-hour nursing care may wish to consider placement in a licensed home for adults. Some licensed homes for adults accept an auxiliary grant for which eligibility is determined by the Adult and Family services Division of the Human Services Department.
Facility Placement: For facility placement, an assessment must be completed to determine the appropriate level of care. Determination is made by a screening team comprised of Social Services and Health Department Staff. If a nursing home level of care is needed, an array of options may be available including Personal Staff.
Companion Services: Services may be provided to adults who are unable to care for themselves due to physical or mental limitations. SSI recipients and certain other low-income individuals may receive in-home care and light housekeeping services. Call for more information.
