Supporting Nonprofit Organizations

The Community Foundation (TCF) enjoys a partnership with six other foundations. Each of these foundations is affiliated with TCF under special provisions of Section 509(a)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and is known as a "supporting organization." Each foundation retains its distinct identity, including separate legal status, governing board and separate investment management. These organizations support charitable programs that carry out TCF's charitable purposes



The Jenkins Foundation is one such partnership and supports projects that further its mission to improve the health care of greater Richmond. Annabella Jenkins was a nurse whose lifelong mission was to provide compassionate health care to all in need. That same humanitarian spirit extends to the Jenkins Foundation, which remains committed to supporting quality health care and related medical programs, particularly for the under served.



The Foundation's grant-making strategy includes three focus areas: care for the medically underserved; substance abuse prevention; and violence prevention.
