Buchanan Health Department offers Communicable Disease Prevention and Control. Services include screening, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up of all persons exposed to specific diseases such as tuberculosis, sexually transmitted infections (STI), HIV/AIDS, foodborne illness, and more. Information is given regarding prevention from exposure, recognizing symptoms, and obtaining treatment. To safeguard against tuberculosis (TB) tuberculin skin test, free in some instances, chest x-rays, evaluation, monitoring of TB cases and contacts are available. An anonymous HIV Counseling and Testing Clinic is offered as well. Information on medication and other assistance is available for low-income persons.
