Who We Are
The Pittsylvania-Danville Health District participates in the Every Woman's Life program. This grant program is supported by community organizations and volunteers, along with a partnership with Danville Regional Medical Center and Danville Imaging Center for free or reduced rates for screening mammograms. The program, sponsored by the Virginia Department of Health, helps uninsured, low-income women gain access to breast cancer screening services.
Mammography is an important preventive health procedure for women. For early detection of breast cancer, the best option is regular screening mammograms for women ages 40 - 64. Earlier screening is available for women who are 18-39 if they are symptomatic or high risk.
