Senior Rental Assistance

Virginia Ely Senior Rental Assistance Program provides financial help for housing to low income seniors residing in Fairfax County.   Participants in this program use 40% of their income as their rent.  The program pays the balance.  The program provides a temporary rental subsidy until a permanent subsidy is granted.



Applicants must have an income that does not exceed 30% of the area median income; approximately $21,750 for a one person household and approximately $24,850 for a two person household.  See website for detailed minimum income for specific retirement facilities.



Applicants must be a resident or have an current application with one of the Fairfax County owned retirement facilities; we are currently serving residents in Gum Springs Glen, Morris Glen and Herndon Harbor House I and II.



The participating seniors benefit from the program by having sufficient funds to not only pay their rent, but also, pay for more nutritious meals, medical needs, vision checkups, dental checkups as well as to be more interactive with their families.
