Who We Are
Indian River Community Center provides a recreational facility to the residents of Chesapeake. All community centers include a gymnasium, fitness and locker rooms, health room, game room, meeting rooms, and kitchen. Call for details about leisure classes and events. Membership fees vary by age and residency (resident vs. non-resident). Guests may purchase a pass for the day.
Chesapeake senior citizens, ages 55 and over, are not charged for membership cards.
Chesapeake Parks and Recreation publishes the LEISURE GUIDE which lists the recreational and leisure activities offer by the department. Get a copy at the community centers, public libraries or call 757-382-6411.
The Indian River Park is a 91-acre park, which contains a natural 70-acre area, is located between Paramont and Rokeby Avenues. It stretches south from Providence Road to the Virginia Beach city line. The park consists of large mature hardwood and pines, baseball field, play area and girl's club. A small creek winds the entire length of the property and has space for a get-away when you don't have the time to get away. The park offers a nearby place to discover adventures on the trails-either walking, hiking or biking. For those who like extreme adventures it has s series of trails and jumps for bikes and the BMX communities.
