Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services
Referred to as DBHDS, Virginia's public mental health, developmental disability and substance abuse services system is comprised of 16 state facilities and 40 locally-run Community Services Boards (CSBs)/Behavioral Health Authorities(BHAs). The CSB/BHAs and facilities serve children and adults who have or who are at risk of mental illness, serious emotional disturbance, developmental disabilities, or substance use disorders. The state office is responsible for internal support functions.

A professional medical care organization that provides primary care or specialty care to prevent, diagnose, or treat Multiple Sclerosis (MS). Routine health care is provided by neurologists, neuropsychologists, psychiatrists, internists, family medicine specialists, nurse practitioners, physicians’ assistants, or other health care providers who serve as the first point of contact with the health care system. Services focus on the prevention and early detection of health problems through regular physical examinations and other similar procedures as well as therapeutic services.
