Volunteer Opportunities

The Jewish Family Service of Tidewater provides volunteer opportunities including friendly visitors, nursing home visitors, telephone friendship, transportation drivers for doctor appointments, special projects, fund raising, financial management assistants, organizing food and distributing it, facilitate support groups, personal finance advocates, Meals on Wheels volunteer, companions for persons with disabilities and office workers.



Qualifications for volunteers include good health, self-driven, dependability, team worker, willingness to complete training and attend monthly meetings and to make monthly reports of volunteer activities. They do not accept Court Referred volunteers; has both long term/on going and short term/special event opportunities.



Training requirements for volunteer positions vary. The volunteer coordinator will explain specific training requirements when you apply for the program.  All background checks and training will be provided at agency expense.
